On Tuesday, during the senate hearing on proposed amendments to the party-list law, Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa called on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to cancel the registration of those party list groups that are “obviously supporting” the communist New People’s Army (NPA).

Dela Rosa was referring to left-leaning party-list groups Bayan Muna, Anakpawis, Kabataan, Alliance of Concerned Teachers, and Gabriela.

At the senate, Dela Rosa pressed Comelec Commissioner Antonio Kho for updates on a petition filed in April seeking to cancel the registration of the left-leaning groups.
