After holding him for 6 hours, Hong Kong authorities on Friday, June 21, barred former Philippine foreign secretary Albert del Rosario from entering Hong Kong.

In a radio interview Friday (June 22), Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said entering a foreign country is only a privilege for anyone.

Hindi yan karapatan. At any time, historically ang immigration officials pwede ka i-deny or i-allow ng entry sa kanilang bansa kasi bumibisita ka lang,” he said.

He said that having a diplomatic passport does not guarantee that someone can enter into any foreign country.

Ang diplomatic passport is of no moment kung ia-allow or ire-reject ka. Ang bentahe ng diplomatic passport libre ka sa travel tax,” he said.

Del Rosario went to Hong Kong to attend the board and shareholders meetings of Hong Kong-listed First Pacific Company Limited.
